Sometimes, small business life can be pretty challenging. Well, in the beginning, it feels kind of noble to do everything in-house. Like, it’s scrappy, it’s resourceful, it’s “saving money,” right? Plus, doing it all shows your grit; maybe doing it all will then show you what you might get stuck on when you’re trying to improve. You’ll at least then have a general idea of what deserves to have money thrown at it and maybe what shouldn’t, right?
But the problem here is that your workload has basically doubled, and even if you hire staff, well, it’s just going to be them and you trying to get multiple departments of work done, which just means burnout and high turnover, which is obviously something you don’t want. So yeah, eventually, it’s going to get to the point where outsourcing stops being some fancy corporate concept and starts being, okay. Something you’ll probably need to do. Now, you might know the basics, like IT, everyone knows to outsource that and marketing, but is there anything else that ideally should be?

So, why start here? Well, having a regular printer and printing off flyers is one thing, honestly, totally fine and normal to print off and do yourself. Well, emphasis here is during peak hours, so this doesn’t mean an all-day, every-day thing, and some businesses, especially the really small ones, probably wouldn’t need this service (maybe medium-sized or bigger). But if you’re running just a local flower shop, for example, no, you don’t need this. If it’s a larger-scale website catering to the tristate area with multiple locations, this could be for you.
But you should really think of it like this: outsourcing coverage during peak times isn’t about handing off the whole customer relationship. Nope, not like that at all, actually. Honestly, it’s about protecting it. It’s making sure customers still get quick answers when the business is slammed, so they don’t eventually drift off to a competitor who replied in twenty minutes.
Anything Legal Review (Such as Contracts)
One giant problem that small businesses face is that they will either make a contract using a template or AI, or instead, they’ll have AI read through a contract that’s given to them. Both might seem smart, both might sound like you’re saving money, but both are honestly really bad ideas. Keep in mind that contracts are written to protect someone, and it’s not always the person signing the contract.
Basically, one weird clause can create a mess later, like payment terms that trap cash flow, cancellation rules that are unfair, liability language that’s too broad, or vague deliverables that turn into scope creep. These are real issues that can be entirely prevented with a lawyer.
